How HyperCloud works, in a few minutes.
Getting started
You sign in to HyperCloud with your Passport: your free HyperCluster account, the same one for every HyperCluster app. If you don't have one yet, you can make it on the way in.
Every Passport gets 1 GB free to start. Your plan page shows how much you have and how much you've used.
Files and folders
- Upload: press “Upload” at the top of My files, or drag files from your computer into the page. Each file can be up to 100 MB.
- Upload a whole folder: press “New”, then “Upload a folder”.
- Make a folder: press “New”, then “New folder”.
- Open: on a computer, double-click a file or folder; on a phone, tap it. Photos, PDFs and text open in a new tab (web pages and code open as plain text, for safety); other files download.
- Move: on a computer, drag a file or folder onto another folder, or onto “My files” in the menu on the left to move it back to the top.
- Download, share or delete: use the buttons on each file. A folder downloads as one ZIP file. Deleting frees its space at once; for 30 days our support can still bring it back, then it is removed for good.
- Rename: right-click a file or folder (on an Android phone, press and hold it), then choose “Rename”.
Programs and scripts (such as .exe, .bat, .sh, .js or .py files) can't be uploaded, to keep everyone safe when files are shared.
Notes
Write notes with headings, lists and links. A note saves a few seconds after you stop typing (or press Ctrl+S, ⌘S on a Mac). Notes count toward your space.
A note's text is encrypted when stored, like your files. So that you can search your notes, its title and first 500 characters are also kept, not encrypted, in HyperCloud's database.
Plans and paying
Need more space? Pick Plus (50 GB), Pro (200 GB) or Max (2 TB), monthly or yearly. Open your plan page
- Prices are in US dollars. You pay in HYPEC, HyperCluster's coin, from your Passport wallet. No HYPEC yet? You can add some with USDT in your Passport.
- A bigger plan starts straight away. A smaller plan, or a switch between monthly and yearly, starts when your current period ends.
- A plan renews by itself from your Passport wallet, and you can turn this off. If there isn't enough HYPEC when it's due, you keep your plan for 7 more days to add some. After that you're back on the free plan, and your files stay.
How your files are kept
Encrypted when stored. When you upload a file, HyperCloud's server encrypts it (with AES-256, a strong lock) before it is stored. The text of your notes is stored the same way.
On HyperCluster's storage network. The encrypted files are kept with IPFS, a way of storing files across many computers. HyperCluster's network includes Quipu machines and members' PCs. The machines that keep your files only hold the encrypted copy, so they can't read them.
HyperCloud holds the keys. This is not end-to-end encryption: the keys stay on HyperCloud's server, which is how it opens your files for you when you sign in, and for the people you send a share link to. File and folder names, and note titles with the start of each note (for search), are not encrypted.
